Taking codebreaking, mathematics, intrigue and strategy into the classroom and beyond
The Enigma Project travels all over the United Kingdom and abroad, visiting over 100 schools and organisations, reaching over 12,000 people of all ages every year.
The Enigma Project is part of the Millennium Mathematics Project at the University of Cambridge, aimed at inspiring students in maths, science, and history through codes and code breaking.
Here you will find a multitude of resources and ideas on how to inspire, motivate and demonstrate the practical applications of mathematics using code and ciphers in the classroom either before or following your Enigma Project visit.
Students can learn more about codes and ciphers, or put their code breaking skills to the test by cracking the 'Code of the Week'. Be in the running to win a signed copy of Simon Singh's 'Code Book' and a cash prize!
The Enigma Project is part of the family of activities in the Millennium Mathematics Project, which also includes the Hands On Maths Roadshow and the NRICH, Plus and Motivate websites
